How to Safely shut down an array during rebuild?

Hi All,

 

I just upgraded a drive in my array, but it is rebuilding extremely slowly.  I think I may have knocked another drive cable as I am getting a ton of read errors on a different disk.

 

Question is, what is the safe way to shut the array down in its current state?  Should I cancel the data rebuilt then stop the array, or just strop it?
