Motherboard GPU query

Featured Replies

My unRaid system is based upon a Gigabyte X399 motherboard with a Threadripper 2950X CPU.

I seem to recall that to we couldnt pass through a GPU if there was only one GPU fitted to the PC. I have an NVIDIA GT710 fitted to slot 1 on my Gigabyte X399 Aorus Extreme MB. I also have two other GPUs, an NVIDIA Quadro P620 for Plex transcoding and Tdarr, and a Sapphire Radeon RX590 Nitro+ for GPU passthrough to VMs. The x399 doesnt have an internal GPU.

Do we still need to have a GPU allocated to the MB or can all GPUs be available to unRaid? I would really like to gain back slot 1 as my MB only has 4 slots and the Radeon RX590 is a dual slot card and is very tight on slot 3 when fitted to slot 2. And by tight, there is about a 2mm space between one of the RX590s fans and the Quadro P620.

Its been a few years since I built this system and I cant recall if this was an unRaid issue or a motherboard issue?
