June 2, 20242 yr Morning all, I currently have a X399 DESIGNARE EX and a 2nd gen threadeipper, with 2 video cards (1 for vm) 2 hba cards (8 drives on each) and a usb card ( for the vm). I am looking at moving to a intel 13th gen system purely because I need more cpu horsepower for my vm. I know I can move to a 16 channel hba (not sure how many pci lanes I’ll need). Ideally I would like a mobo that supports at least 2 x 16 and 1 x 8 but being able to pass through some of the usb ports is a must if I want to do away with the usb card I currently use. What motherboard options do I have. Do any of you use intel 13 or 14th gen with multiple pci cards and how do the work with passing through to a vm? Does anybody have any ideas on what motherboard might suit me? Edited June 3, 20242 yr by JWMutant
