MothyTim Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Hi, I'm having an issue with Unraid crashing a lot more than usual at the moment! I think it's something to do with networking, as I did have it setup bonding the 2 NICs together as my switch supports LAGs, but a couple of weeks ago I removed the LAG thinking it might help with stability, but it's made it worse! It was crashing every few weeks, now it crashes every couple of days!! I can see issues in the logs and hoping that someone can tell me what they mean? Thanks, Tim tower-diagnostics-20240603-1025.zip syslog-10.19.64.2.log Quote
itimpi Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Are you using macvlan for docker networking? There appear to be some macvlan related crashes in the log you posted. Quote

JorgeB Posted June 3 Posted June 3 There are multiple call traces, some of them involving zfs, suggesting a problem with one of the filesystems, or an underlying hardware issue causing them, like bad RAM. Quote
MothyTim Posted June 3 Author Posted June 3 Ok, well I've had these issues since 6.10 came out whenever that was! I gave up trying to use VMs it was just too much hassle, they worked perfectly in 6.9! It's recently had a new motherboard, but that changed nothing, other than I now have working USB ports! I guess I can run Memtest, but that'll have to wait until the weekend as I can't do without the server during the week! I've moved most stuff from Unraid as my experience of it has been so bad, I'm running some things on a RaspberryPI now and that is way more reliable! I guess I'll keep removing things as putting everything in one place was a mistake! All that said, I'd love to get it working like it used to where it was months between reboots not days! I guess my question is if it's RAM why did it get worse when I changed the networking? Quote
Solution MothyTim Posted June 15 Author Solution Posted June 15 Ok, so I've possibly answered my own question! I bound the networking card to VIFO and the system then automatically switched all the network setup to the integrated NIC on the motherboard, it hasn't crashed since, 8 days and counting! So it looks like it was the TP-Link PCIe card, one of the only original cards! The RAM is original but tested ok, I'm replacing it anyway and doubling the amount while I'm at it! That'll teach me to use TP-Link stuff, I've always had trouble with it, bad firmware usually! I guess because I kept reading about all the networking issues around Macvlan I was wrongly blaming unRAID! Thanks to those who helped and made me think to check over the hardware again!! Cheers, Tim Quote
