Movie stopped playing

I was watching a movie when it just stopped. I thought it was a problem with my wdtv box, so I reset the box. When I tried to start the movie again I received a error "device not capable of playing this file format" I tried playing a different. Mkv file and it worked just fine.

 

After looking at the syslog, this line appears at the same time as the disturbance.  The next line in the log is 25 minutes before this.

 

crond[1344]: ignoring /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root- (non-existent user)

 

Any ideas?
