Moving to version 5

Featured Replies

I am currently running a very stable version 4.5.4.  I am thinking about version 5, and need some advice.  I am not a Linux expert and because of unRaids stability I forget more than I learn between sessions so I am generally going backwards.

1) What version of unraid 5 should I use?

2) Is there a documented process for going to version 5 from version 4?

3) Will unMenu work and do I have to locate the version 5 version of unMenu or does it self configure based on unraid version?

4) I don't put the array to sleep, but I do spin down the disks.  Has the spinup/down interface change?  I currently use the following sent over a TCP Socket:

    "GET /update.htm?startState=STARTED&cmdSpinDownAll=Spin+Down HTTP/1.1" + vbCrLf + a

    "GET /update.htm?startState=STARTED&cmdSpinUpAll=Spin+Up HTTP/1.1" + vbCrLf + a

5) What are the significant risk factors? I really don't want to lose the terrabytes of storage I have built up.

Any help/advice appreciated

Thanks in advance, Barry

Great thread, would be also interested in this. So far I never bothered upgrading to v5...

I would be also interested if v5 would modify the array in any way, i.e. would it be possible to revert to the old v4.7 usb data structure (disk imaging comes to mind)?
