June 7, 20242 yr I consider myself fairly smart but haven't been able to figure out how to get a windows vm running with the GTX 1070 or the GTX 1060 on my unraid server...in over a year. I try new combinations for a few days then forget about it for a month then try again. It has been soooooo frustrating. Have Gigabyte x99 SLI(not configured in SLI) i7-5820K Asus GTX 1070 MSI GTX 1660 TI Ventus Had server working with GUI mode since beginning just cant geet windows 10 or 11 vm with the 1070 or 1060 passed thru. Can get vm's running just fine with virtual gpu. Bought the 1060 to solve this so now have 2 graphics cards in same system with 1070 bound to vfio and 1060 running unraid GUI mode....but always get code 43 in windows vm's. Tried dumping 1070 gpu rom, multifunction='on', and every combination of x99 bios I know of. I've started windows vm with only virtual card then remote in to setup 1070 but still get 43 error Seems the x99 motherboards are a bit finicky with unraid but seen others get theirs working. Any help is appreciated...sooo tired of trying out combinations of things. My once really good windows machine has turned into a worthless unraid server just sitting here for over a year bc of this. Attached Diagnostics. Thank you tower-diagnostics-20240618-1548.zip Edited June 20, 20242 yr by Austin21C added zip file
June 8, 20242 yr The diagnostics is a single zip file - please post that instead of the individual files! I expect that you are running on a Mac and have Safari configured to be ‘helpful’ and it has shown you the content of the zip file.
June 18, 20242 yr Author I edited original posts and added diagnostics single zip file. Attaching it here too. You are correct i am on mac using safari 😀. Any help is appreciated. I have Fedora 37 VM running right now using GTX1070 which is basically worthless to me beside testing GPU's work, but of course doesnt work with windows vm's. tower-diagnostics-20240618-1548.zip
June 20, 20242 yr Author So I took out the GTX 1070 and left the 1660 TI in 1st slot and created new windows 11 VM with VNC without the 1660 at first. Strange thing is that when I added the 1660 then vnc'd into VM and installed drivers...upon restart when windows 11 VM starts up I can see the word "UnRAID" on the monitor the 1660 is hooked to. Not sure why I can see this screen this time bc before when unraid booted either the screen is full of text that is left there(from booting) or goes to completely blank with one dash. Each time it stayed that way even when I booted the windows 11 VM. Now when I boot the Win11 VM I at least get the "Unraid" screen. But the running vm never appears on monitor. Can only remote into it. I entered the boot manager screen(added pic) and that even showed up on monitor. Basically the 1660 obviously works to a certain point in the boot process Any ideas anyone?
