June 13, 20242 yr I’m thinking of buying this rack chassi: Inter-tech 4724 but I’m really struggling with figuring out what exactly I need to connect the backplane to the motherboard (haven’t decided on motherboard yet). I’m guessing HBA but no clue on how many or which of them, or which cables (or how many) and if I need something more/else. Been trying to find info about it but either I’m dumb as a brick or I just can’t find the (right) information. what i could find was this: * The chassi has 2x 12-way S-ATA/SAS hot-swap backplane with 3x SFF-8087 socket. * The backplane is only suitable for operation on a SAS controller with a SFF-8087 connector. * Adapter cables are required for controllers with other connections. * For operation with a SATA controller, please order the corresponding number of the optional crossed SFF-8087 to 4x SATA cables (88885237). But what that means i actually need I have no clue. So, now I’m here putting my faith in the experts here in the hopes of someone that could tell me what I’d need. And hopefully I’ll learn something in the process. Edited June 13, 20242 yr by kakburken
