New Plex NAS setup recommendation XFS or ZFS

Featured Replies

I'm going back and forth between xfs and zfs for my new Plex NAS setup.
I currently have 8x8tb WD Reds, 3x 16tb WD Ultrastar, 1x 1TB SSD, 1x 500GB SSD.
I can grab another 16TB drive if needed.

I would like to have the following

1 volume across all the drives

Survive 1 or 2 drive failure
Decently high performance for multiple 4k streams.

I'm debating between ZFS and XFS. Just need some opinions why I should go for one or the other.

Do you real mean a volume or just a share? For the former only a zfs pool would work.

I just want to simplify the management of this and make it look like 1 drive for the share.

User shares can basically do that, main limitation is that a single file cannot span multiple disks, but if you really want a single volume, use a zfs pool.
