ajlk199
I recently added a new 12TB Seagate Exos drive to my Unraid setup to use as a parity drive. Before this, I was running the system without parity. However, the parity sync is progressing extremely slowly. On average, the speed is around 10MB/sec. Occasionally, it spikes to between 150MB-200MB, but these moments are brief, and the speed typically reverts to 10MB/sec or lower. With about 27TB of data to sync, only 4.3TB has been synced after one day and three hours. This seems unusually slow, considering that individual speed tests on my disks (conducted using "DiskSpeed") show speeds exceeding 150MB/sec, and there are no apparent SMART issues or noticeable problems in the logs or system diagnostics. However, I'm not very experienced with reading these diagnostics. The setup includes one hard drive connected directly to the motherboard via SATA cables and others in a hard drive enclosure linked via an LSI HBA card. All hardware is running the latest firmware. Can anyone suggest why my parity sync is so slow or how I can troubleshoot this issue? ah-server-diagnostics-20240623-1242.zip Quote Link to comment
Kilrah
Anything accessing the array while the sync is running will slow it down drastically, so minimize accesses / stop services if you want it to go fast. Quote Link to comment
