Webinterface not responding, console login time out

Featured Replies

Hi all,

last night my unraid somewhen became unresponsive via webinterface, ssh login not possible - local console login not possible as well (after typign in username it did not prompt for pass -> timeout after a while).

So i enabled syslog server but i cannot find anything odd in the log.

Server crashed 3x after that within minutes.

Any i idea ?

That suggest you did not configure the syslog server correctly as there should always be something logged.   Did you set the "Mirror to flash" option or put your server's address into the "Remote Syslog Server" field?

All OK, but when the freeze appears there IS No interesting entry

I interpreted what  you said as meaning there is NO entry at all - that was why I was querying the configuration.  If you did have it set which option did you use the "mirror to flash" option which automatically gets the results included in the diagnostics?

If it is the sylog-previous.txt included in the diagnostics then I agree there is nothing obvious logged which can point towards a hardware issue.

You might want to consider booting in Safe mode to eliminate a plugin being the cause.

The next step would be to disable VMs and/or docker containers in case one of them is the culprit

I'm having the same issue.

One minute I was happily moving files on my server via NFS from my Mac. Then it suddenly stopped responding.

  • WebUI won't respond, nor will any of the dozen containers running on the server
  • SSH login won't respond, times out
  • Server responds to pings, so it's not 100% dead
  • Plugged in a monitor and keyboard, tried to log in
    • root login times out after 60 seconds
    • I can actually type any crap into the login field and it'll just time out
  • Did a ctrl-alt-del (Runlevel 6) on the CLI and it was unable to do a graceful shutdown, reverted to forced shutdown after 90 seconds, nothing happened
  • Tapping the power button (runlevel 0) had the same effect, nothing happened

My issue is "solved" - caused by Jellyfin full library scan and a ridiculous default setting
