Keevil Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Hello, Im looking for a little help. I am in the process of spec'ing out a new machine and would like some help with the montherboard. At the moment i have trimmed it down to two boards but would like some help on deciding which one to go with. A little bit of background, i am looking to build a 15 drive tower server with a Lian Li A77FB and 3 IcyDock drive cages. I also intend to stick in an i3 processor and 8gb RAM. Due to the high number of drives i was wondering if it would be worth spending the little bit more money and getting the Asus F1A75-V Pro? Asus F1A75-V Pro Motherboard - http://goo.gl/9wlr1 - £89.99 Asus P8H61-M LE - http://goo.gl/kHa3E - £48.99 Many Thanks
crankbearing Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 The F1a75 is an AMD only FM1 socket board using the new amd A series APU's, I am sure you are aware but I just noted your wanting to use an I3 processor that is all. you can read my review of the F1A75-V Pro below your post. so far it is working ok for initial testing. It has not actually been put into service at this point. if you are concerned with using x8 pci-e sata cards you may want to look at the F1A75 -evo board it has pci-e ans supports x8 x8 cards instead of the pro which is x16 x4. Glimmerman911 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 What does the x8 x8 mean vs x16 x4? I understand PCI-e x8 and PCI-e x16, but not x8 x8 vs. x16 x4
ix400 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Hi, is it possible to run two aoc saslp-mv8 sata cards in the Asus F1A75-V Pro board? Cheers, Chris
