prostuff1 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Whoa.. nice Find. I have no use at all for this.. but at 2 bills, I'll pick one up for later. Thanks! Ditto... but I have other things that $200 could be spent on. Might pick it up and give it as a Christmas gift next year... if I can manage to let go of it after having used it.
neilt0 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 That's a good price -- about what we're paying with the rebate in the UK. See my sig for a thread on how to get the best out of the HP Microserver.
chip Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Yes I saw this price at amazon for this but sold by Onsale. I went to buy it from there today and it was price at $249....this is a great price/buy. Just bought it from here though...couldn't resist.
Johnm Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I ordered mine. For some reason they charged me sales tax even though it is shipping from cali.
chip Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 What is the recommended memory for these and Unraid?
neilt0 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 What is the recommended memory for these and Unraid? http://www.google.com/#q=HP+Microserver+N40L+RAM&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=shop&ei=oGsLT_XtB4GWOoz8uLsB&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=6&ved=0CD8Q_AUoBQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=d3215cf0cd513db1&biw=784&bih=807 You can use ECC or non-ECC.
Johnm Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 What is the recommended memory for these and Unraid? The 2 Gigs will work fine for vanilla unRAID if you want more, 4GB stick from newegg should help. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139466
Johnm Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I got my new Microserver today... That was fast. less then 48 hours from when I placed to order.. not bad for free shipping. even newegg is not that quick. Very nice little unit. just fired it up and put whs2011 on it.. (only OS installer on a flash drive i saw on my desk)
elkay14 Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Cool! Mine is coming on Monday -- Ground shipping takes a while from Memphis to Washington State.
teamhood Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Well I got mine yesterday. I already have 1 that I use and I couldn't pass up the $200.00 price tag. I have NO idea what I plan on using this one for and with the price of hard drives - I think it's going to sit and collect some dust for a while... I love these little guys!
Johnm Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I have not done any research yet, does the N40L need a bios update also to get the extra sata port to run at 300MB/s ? To answer my own question. YES. The N40L shares the same cripple on ports 4&5 it looks like. Does anyone recommend a Bios for this unit?
