Removing a share - what about the data?

So with having trouble adding a new drive, it got me thinking what happens when a share is removed?  What happens to the data that is in the share. Is it still available?

 

What happens if I create the share again, will the ta be available again?

    You can't just "one click" remove a share. You have to first delete the data to remove a share. Once you delete the data it's gone.

    First delete or move the data. The share must be empty before it can be removed.

     

    This includes hidden files.
