[SOLVED] Flip / Flop between 4.7 and 5.0 beta?

Featured Replies

Let's say I have bought a dual pack licenses from LimeTech. On one USB, I install 4.7 and on other, I install 5.0 beta. Can I switch back and forth  between the versions by simply booting from a specific USB key without doing something like a parity check every switch? If yes, is it also possible if you have unRAID running on ESXi?

The reason I am asking is that I want to try out 5.0 but I don't want to run the risk of potential downtime in case issues with beta (current plan is to stay with 4.7) -- at least not until I can get a small test unRAID box running.

It can be done... but not as easily as you might want it to be.  A parity check would more than likely have to be done if you were to switch back and forth between 4.7 and 5.0.  You will also have to run the New Perms script after moving from 4.7 to 5.0 every time.

I knew it was too good to be true. This idea would be another reason to buy the dual pack :P. Thanks prostuff1
