Problem when replacing drive with bigger one

Featured Replies

I have replaced drives before with no problem but I'm not entirely sure what has occurred here!

I was replacing a 4TB drive with a 16TB drive, did something like this

1. Stop the Array

2. Set the old drive to none

3. Removed the old drive

4. Installed the new drive

5. refreshed the GUI

6. selected the new 16TB drive in the old drive slot

started the array for it to rebuild but then noticed that the drive was showing as Unmountable: No file system which I not seen before, after a bit of stopping and starting I tried running xfs_repair -v /dev/sdg this says unable to find superblock and searches for a secondary but is just pages and pages of ..............

To make it worse I then notice one of my other drives was showing the same thing!!! sdj so I now have 2 drives emulated!!! I have two parity drives so I hope I am ok but I dont know how to recover from this situation. Any help much appreciated, diagnostics attached.

This is not the correct command, see check filesystem.

Thanks, have run the check from GUI on both drives, see attached. Am I ok to run without the -n to repair?

It's the only option to try an repair them, and if it asks for -L use it.

Thanks, I think it did the job and they are now rebuilding normally, phew 👍
