Norco 4220 Not Recognizing HDDs?

Featured Replies

I am working on a new build based around the 4220. Everything seems to be going fine except the case won't recognize any drive. I've removed all external cards except for the video card and only have cable and power going to the top rail. My computer boots up and if I take the drive out and attach it via a regular SATA cable and power connection, it's recognized just fine. However, when I mount it in the 4220, it's like is doesn't exist.

I could really use some help.

odds are you have the wrong breakout cable for the backplane.

(There are two types, "forward" and "reverse".  They look identical.)

Which do you have?

Ack, i hate to break it to you. that is the wrong cable. to go from a motherboard sata connector to a Norco backplane, you need a "reverse" breakout cable.

The "forward" breakout cable is for going from a raid card to a sata drive.

However, the SAS cable you got for the MV8 to the backplane is Correct. you should see those drives just fine.

Ack. Well at least that is just a minor problem. Thanks for the reply, friend.
