January 15, 201214 yr This thread is for the other X7SPA-HF-D525 users out there. I just setup my new system. I have a green LED blinking. It looks to be labeled DP1. It is near the end of the PCIe slot close to the nuvoTon chip The manual doesn't have anything about this LED in it or I've missed it multiple times. Anyone know what this LED is for and why it might be blinking? Does anyone know if this mobo can WOL from S5? I've tested from S3 and that is working fine thankfully.
January 15, 201214 yr I think this answers the 1st question thank you all for the reponese. FYI, here is the answer from supermicro support: Ziguan, There are 2 LED onboard. One is power LED which is on solid. It mean the power supply is supplying power to the motherboard. The other LED which blinking is refer to IPMI chipset. That mean the chipset is on and working. Technical Support ES Maybe someone els can help with the 2nd one.
January 15, 201214 yr Author AH HA! I thought it may be of such. It would be nice if that put that in the manual. And why the heck do they make it blink? That is just odd.
January 15, 201214 yr Author I've answered question 2 myself just now. I got it to WOL from power off just fine. This is going to be quite nice. Now on to a new question. How the heck can I make it quit beeping? I don't want to hear any beeps when I power it on unless it is failing for some reason. Right now it beeps for many random reasons. Power on, unRaid finishes booting, Power off etc.
January 15, 201214 yr As answered. the Lighs are power and the IPMI heartbeat so you know it is active. for the beeps, i think it is actually nice to know when it reboots and when unraid is up. I actually have mine beep the super mario brothers tune when booted into unraid. the tones are handy if you are running completely headless. it give you an alert to whats happening. If they were louder, I would agree with you, but they are a reasonable volume. I believe you can disable it 100% by jumpering the external speaker plug (JP1 or JP2?) but then you wont get any other sounds from it.
January 15, 201214 yr Author I agree they could be useful, but when it beeps in the middle of the night in a room right across from my bedroom the wife will not be happy. I'll look for that jumper. If I have issues, I can switch it back to hear the beeps when I need to. Thanks for the info. Looks like jumper JD1 is the one I was looking for.
January 24, 201214 yr Author Is anyone is controlling fan speed on this motherboard? If so, can you share your process for doing so? I grabbed the fan_speed.sh file from the X7SPA-HF thread. When I run pwmconfig to see what my fan speeds are, I get back that there are no pwm-capable sensors installed.
