Intel A770 Arc installed and not recognized

Featured Replies

I just installed an Acer Predator A770 into my server running 7.0.0-beta2. I'm getting no output video from it nor is it showing up in Unraid. I have tried doing the QSV allowance and installing Intel iGPU apps.

Does it show in lspci? Post diagnostics

System is not detecting the card. Have you connected external power to the card? Checked bios etc?

Which slot on the motherboard have you connected it to?

Example of my machine on Beta 2.

root@computenode:/boot/config/plugins/Unraid.Backups# lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation AlderLake-S GT1 (rev 0c)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation DG2 [Arc A770] (rev 08)
09:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU117GLM [Quadro T400 Mobile] (rev a1)
0d:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 24 [Radeon RX 6400/6500 XT/6500M] (rev c7)
root@computenode:/boot/config/plugins/Unraid.Backups#

It is installed in the main PCI 5.0 slot, the only options in the bios are auto and onboard. I'm going to try and update the bios.

I've updated the bios and am now getting picture out of a DP, however still no GPU showing up in Unraid.

GPU is being detected now:

0000:03:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation DG2 [Arc A770] [8086:56a0] (rev 08)
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:3888]
    Kernel driver in use: i915
    Kernel modules: i915, xe

Where are you expecting the gpu to show?

I'm expecting it to show up in Unraid so that I can enable it in Plex for transcoding.

Do you have intel gpu top installed? if so what does this show?

root@computenode:~# intel_gpu_top -L
card1                    Intel Dg2 (Gen12)                 pci:vendor=8086,device=56A0,card=0
└─renderD129
card3                    Intel Alderlake_s (Gen12)         pci:vendor=8086,device=4680,card=0
└─renderD131
card0                    10de:1fb2                         pci:vendor=10DE,device=1FB2,card=0
└─renderD128
card2                    1002:743f                         pci:vendor=1002,device=743F,card=0
└─renderD130

root@computenode:~# ls /dev/dri
by-path/  card0  card1  card2  card3  renderD128  renderD129  renderD130  renderD131
root@computenode:~#

Have you added the device into the plex docker?

  • Author

I have both GPU top and Intel-GVT-g installed.

card0                    Intel Dg2 (Gen12)                 pci:vendor=8086,device=56A0,card=0
└─renderD128

GVT is not supported on Alderlake so I would remove that and reboot.

I've uninstalled and rebooted. It's still showing only the onboard.

How are you passinv the gpu into plex?

Through the Transcoder settings in Plex, there is a dropdown box for choosing which processing unit will do the work. Currently only "auto" is selectable.

Are you using a Plex docker? What do you have defined in the docker template. Maybe in extras etc.

That's got it, thank you! I hadn't set it as "device" when I added the "/dev/dri"
