is it possible to combine the 12v rails in the harness outside the power supply itself?

    i would not recommend even having a thought like this..

     

    just take the answer of no..

     

    if you have to ask that question, you are not  an electrician or have the equipment to test.

    to many variable and dangers that vary with every PSU.

    you will risk your PC and possibly fire.. not worth the risk. spend the few bucks to buy the correct part.

     

    on an added thought... i have seen people remove the PCIe (video card) plugs and place molex plugs on them with a multi-rail PSU to power drive cages/backplanes
