USB device to trigger a script to power on a VM

Featured Replies

I have a little media server, HP elitedesk 800 g3 mini.

My goal is to power on a VM using a USB device.

I can turn on a VM using a phone via WOL, but my purpose is for little kids to turn it on by themselves.

USB device > User script > VM turns on

Is this possible?

Maybe through the Unassigned Devices plugin ? I know that it is capable to launch a script when specific drives are attached. It is generally used for drive operations such as backups from or to unassigned drives, but it might be possible to do what you are looking for.

My usb manager can start a VM when a device is plugged in.
