January 17, 201214 yr Hi, I'm new to the forums and getting ready to start my build. I have been researching Raj's prototypes and I think I know what setup I will be going with. I am interested in the ARK 4U-500-CA Rack Case. The price is great and its not to big. I was told there is a way to make that case a 15 bay. I'm not sure how this is possible though. Has anyone on here used this case?
January 17, 201214 yr Yes, I'm using the case. It has 7 3.5" internal bays, one 3.5" external and then three 5" bays as well as space for 2 more internal 3.5" drives on the crossbar. If you use a 3x5 drive cage then it'll hold 15 drives. I'm using a cheaper 3x4 drive cage. The airflow is adequate, but there are a couple places that will be better for green drives.
January 17, 201214 yr Author Can you send me a picture of your server so I can get a better visual of how you can have 15 drives. Also how loud is this server case? It will be in my living room so I would like a server as quit as possible. I know the Norco's can be really noisy.
January 18, 201214 yr Author What rackmount rails are a you using with this case? I don't have a rack yet but I plan to in the future. So thats why i am considering this case. For the time being it will just be on a stand. If i don't go with this case then I'll just get a PC case then later on switch over to a rackmount case.
