July 20, 20241 yr Ive built a new system with updated hardware for my Unraid machine but I cant get it to boot from USB. I have selected "UEFI: SanDisk, Partition 1" as my Boot Option #1 but I just get BIOS each time. Im tring to mess with Fast Boot settings but no luck yet. If I plug in another USB with a Windows Installer on it that boots. If I put the USB drive back in my old server Unraid still boots and works. New motherboard is Gigabyte Z490 UD.

Is old one booting uefi or legacy? is the folder on drive EFI or EFI- Fastboot should be disabled.

July 20, 20241 yr Author Old server is UEFI too. I wonder if its a CSM thing, I see its on on the old server but I cant enable it on the new one.

July 21, 20241 yr Author If I connect to the 'flash' SMB share I can see the folder EFI- Should I rename this to EFI? Im just worried I might get myself into a situation where I cant boot unraid on either of the PCs.

July 21, 20241 yr I had a issue with this once if its an existing used usb and your putting it in a new pc DELETE all the network config files this locks it up for ALONG time, it will eventually time out but it takes FOREVER Deleting the network config will let it boot on up and then you'll have to setup the network again
July 21, 20241 yr Author Solution I fixed it. I needed to enable CSM but I couldnt turn it on, every time I tried I would save and exit BIOS and it would sit at a blank screen. Then after a reboot and entering BIOS again it was turned off. The fix was to disable secure boot, once this was off I was able to enable CSM and could then boot from the Unraid USB.
