yodine
Hi, Had way too many trouble with included TOS OS so replaced the usb flash boot with a USB Unraid instead. Could setup with web interface, which is good as this rack model doesn't have hdmi screen port. Saw 2 drives with errors. When launching quick SMART test, I saw the led flaring didn't match the physical drive location: like disc 2 was in 4th slot. This model has 8 HDD and 2 SSD NVME. They are all mixed numbers with device number not related to their physical location. Is there a way to match the disc number in the interface with the slot number of the drive ? (like renaming to change the device number) Do I have to start with just the SSD and insert disc one by one. Will it keep the device number after rebooting ? For the moment just booted, without even trial, just to see if it would work. Looks good but hard to use if number doesn't match. Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted July 21 Solution Share Posted July 21 Unraid identifies drives by their serial number and not by where they are connected. You would need to look at the serial numbers of the various drives and then assign them to appropriate disk slots in the Unraid GUI. If you have already done some assignments you can use Tools->New Config to put the system back into the state where drives can be assigned. Quote Link to comment
yodine
Thanks, good to know. So aligned on the table all the disks in their physical order and took a picture so I can see all the serials when I'll be assigning them... to their correct location Quote Link to comment
