Kingston MobileLiteG2 Reader + 8GB SDHC - $12

Kingston MobileLiteG2 Reader with 8GB Secure Digital High Capacity SDHC Flash Card - FCR-MLG2+SD4/8GB

$12 shipped!

One of the few SD card readers known to be compatible with unRAID.  Using a reader instead of a flash drive allows you to swap out the flash memory (the SDHC card) without losing your unRAID license.  Considering that all flash memory will fail eventually, this is a good idea.  Also very useful if you like to tinker with add ons and other test scenarios.  You can have one 'test' SDHC card and one 'production' SDHC card and boot from either.

So the GUID will be tied to the adapter and not the SD card?

Yes it is tied to the reader. I have been using this for over a year and have a few different configurations on a couple of cards. I have swapped out many times and the GUID is always the same.

Thanks guys, bought 1 !!! :)

These are the readers that I discovered and sell exclusively with my servers.

Hmmm I like that idea of using multiple flash cards with different versions but using the same license. Brilliant! Ultimate in license guarantee..

Originally that wasn't the main purpose but turned out to be a nice benefit.

To me, the greatest benefit is that if the card wears out or runs out of room, you can replace it without a license adjustment.

Hmmmmm do you think I could order this and get my license adjusted from LimeTech to fit the new GUID?

You'll have to ask LimeTech about that.  My guess is that Tom will accommodate you as long as you are willing to have your original flash drive's GUID blacklisted.

I may hit Tom up for switching mine over as well.  I'm willing to even send him my old flash drive.  My reader and SD card should be here early next week.

I got my reader today. The end where you put the memory card is little stiff / wobbles a bit when you move the "sleeve". Anyone else have this issue? I am afraid that it will break sooner than later

No, I don't have that issue.  You might have a defective one.

A Blacklisted GUID is a USB Flash Drive's serial number that is not compatible with unRAID's licensing.  If you offer to have your current flash drive's GUID blacklisted, then LimeTech may be willing to let you switch your key to a different flash drive or a card reader instead.  This is a question for LimeTech, as none of us can answer it.

Then this means that the server sends info To limetech?

The Blacklisting only effect future releases.

Sticky this tread?

Are any other readers known to be compatible?

I have this reader I may have my current flash drive blacklisted. Has anyone done this recently?
