mani
Hi I am looking at WD 1 TB hard drives- I will be using server mainly for streaming video/ audio. I came across this srticle: http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1397&p_created=1131638613 Now does unRAID differ from RAID regarding controlling the hard drives in context to error recovery etc that should change my decision regarding choosing the hard drive? Will the Green power version of WD 1TB - specifically- WD1000FYPS be OK for my use or do I need faster drives? Thanks Mani Quote Link to comment
bubbaQ
RAID specific drives are not needed for unRAID. The difference is TLER (Time limited error recovery). Wither with or without TLER, unRAID will fail the drive when an error is reported (with TLER) or on-disk recovery takes too long (without TLER). Quote Link to comment
