July 30, 20241 yr Hi, I have a new UnRAID build with the current version, booting in UEFI on a Supermicro X9SCM-F with 16G RAM, using the onboard NICs and an LSI HBA The case is also Supermicro. The problem is that the GUI starts throwing internal server error 500's. I can only see the GUI again after reboot through shell. The machine is a backup UnRAID server from my main UnRAID server, and through SMB via unassigned devices they are connected and with Krusader I copy files to the backupserver. This also often throws errors. Cannot copy the file. I have added the logs, maybe you can help me troubleshooting. I appreciate the help. backuppie-diagnostics-20240730-1901.zip
July 30, 20241 yr Community Expert Nothing jumps out in the logs, I assume it was having the issue when they were saved? Also try booting in safe mode to rule out any plugin issues.
July 31, 20241 yr Author It indeed might not be the right logs. Added 2 logs that the server made without my manual command. Here the server was constantly restarting the GUI and mounting the disks. I switched off the watchdog function in the BIOS and then it was already much better. backuppie-diagnostics-20240730-1548.zip backuppie-diagnostics-20240730-1521.zip

July 31, 20241 yr Author Not rebooting, but it was doing something in the background where it was recovering the webUI, and every time the webUI came back, the disks were again mounting and starting services. It looked like a loop. Edited July 31, 20241 yr by TallMan206
July 31, 20241 yr Community Expert I still don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs, can you post a video of what you are seeing?
July 31, 20241 yr Author Hi JorgeB, I'll make a video, and post it as soon as the issue occurs. The machine is running fine at this moment. It's copying files from my main UnRAID to the server that we are talking about. FYI: The server that we are talking about exist of old HDD's which I already needed to remove 2 x4TB because of errors. Now I see another drive is giving errors. This is not related to the webUI issue, but just informative. Copying happens through Krusader. SMB share from Unraid MAIN to 'Backuppie' makes the connection, and I reach out to that share through Krusader and this is how I copy the files for backup.
July 31, 20241 yr Community Expert SMART if flagging the UDMA CRC errors, that is usually a SATA cable problem, you can click on the thumbs down and acknowledge the current errors, if more appear replace the SATA cable
July 31, 20241 yr Author Yes, I agree, but the server has a backplane, and I moved it to another slot, and it still shows errors. I don't think it is the backplane or the cables. The backplane has 4 cables going to the HBA, the drive is really on a part of the backplane with another cable.
July 31, 20241 yr Author Running for a couple of hours now without problems... Always when you ask for help, the device shows normal behavior... I'll keep you informed, if and when the webGUI is not available again.

August 1, 20241 yr Author OK, I have ' unstoppable copier' running from my WIndows computer, checking for missing files after copying music from my main unraid to the backup unraid. So, SMB share from Windows to the backup server In the meantime, the main unraid server, is copying movies via Krusader, over an Unassigned Devices share between the unraid main and backup server. 2nd SMB share NOW the GUI is down. The Windows copying is working fine, but after login on the unraid backup server, the error HTTP 500 is thrown. Krusader also throws an error that it cannot copy files, so that stalled. Retry on the copy does not work. Diags added. Please I want to know what is causing the GUI to disappear while copying files from 2 sources. The one from 1620 hours is the first one since the unresponsive UI. backuppie-diagnostics-20240801-1632.zip backuppie-diagnostics-20240801-1620.zip Edited August 1, 20241 yr by TallMan206
August 1, 20241 yr Author Me neither. I thought maybe something about memory or other issues. I disabled Docker again because before that it was running fine. Maybe something related to that?
August 1, 20241 yr Author It looks like Docker is causing issues. Without the Docker services running, I don't have problems. The hardware specs from the unraid backup machine: Supermicro X9SCM-F 16G RAM Onboard 1G LAN Total storage over 9 disks: 25,1TB. BIOS: Intel VT-D and Intel AES-NI is on.
August 1, 20241 yr Community Expert Docker can definitely cause issues, try to identify which container is the problem.
August 13, 20241 yr Author Hi @JorgeB can a 'bad' array drive cause the server to hang, throw HTTP error 500's and even block the server from shutting down? I see the drive is blinking all the time, but the server does not react to anything else. I needed to shut down through CLI, and it is still hanging in this process. The reason for this question: I was backing up the main server to the backupserver, which was writing to a 8TB HDD, and now starts writing on the 4TB HDD that you already noticed earlier to give issues. Since the data is now written to the 4TB HDD, the server is misbehaving again, while it was running perfectly fine when it was still writing the 8TB HDD. Edited August 13, 20241 yr by TallMan206
