For some reason I always get "No FS" displayed, but all my server daemons like sab, sick and couchpotato are running fine from the external snap-mounted HDD. What might be the reason?

I'd like to know what filesystem is on that hdd.  Maybe it's a not reporting information correctly.  Please post some more information and maybe even a screen shot of the grid also.

Ahh, yes I guess some popup help or something would be useful.  When you plugged in the usb drive, did it show it's serial number in the SNAP grid?  Or did it never show up and you had to use the add button to add the serial number/sharename?  If it never did show up by itself then that is a problem and I need to get more information from you about that.

nothing happen when i insert my flash drive. now new serial number, nothing. i had to use add the serial number/sharename button. im using flash drive. most likely fat32 partition. havent try my usb hdd yet. what kind of information do you need? tell me and i get it for you.

thanks.

I had exactly the same thing yesterday, I have been using SNAP for a while without issue until last night, connected a drive and the the grid showed nothing, no unraid disks no old shares nothing, I deleted snap re-downloaded the plugin and rebooted, but same result. From the CLI is I used -showusb I could see the drive, so I manually added it and shared it via the CLI and then it along with all the other drives and shares appeared in teh grid. the USB drive is a transcend 500GB with NTFS partition.

maybe my message is misleading. on my snap grid, only drives managed by unraid are shown. if i insert flash drive, nothing new happen.

Hello queeg,

unfortunately I can post screenshots in 2 weeks soonest because I am not at home. The FS I use is normal ReiserFS, I think I formatted the disk with unmenu.

As I said, it is working perfectly fine, so it's probably just the reporting that does not work.

to queeg.

its been weeks for me trying to figure out how to use snap. when you mention that snap is hotplug, i got the impression that all you got todo(after install snap) is to plug the usb device and be done with it. the "user is required to assign serial number and share name" is not really obvious until few other old threads i read. plus, there is no mention that you have to assign serial number and share name in the plugin release thread. in the old release thread, you mention "NOTE: New installation procedures as of 0.47." which create an impression that different release of snap requires different installation procedure. i believe, if you state that user have to assign serial number and share name BEFORE hotplug feature is enable, that would have help. all this time, i was under the impression that my installation is problematic, thats why hotplug feature is not working.

anyway, thanks for your wonderful effort.

thanks.

Same issue I never got a pop up but I'm not sure if I would have as I booted the server with the flash drive already in.

Added manually with the button.

I do get the No FS message. Flash is formatted with FAT32.

Also seem to have lost permissions to access the share. I was able to R/W on the share after installing the plugin through cmdline and adding the drive. After the first reboot since install I no longer can.

Hi Queeg,

Nice work, thanks for the efforts...

I'm using  ESXi virtualized 5.0-beta12a along with the latest Snap-5.0-1.plg and I am unable to get the web GUI to have any effect on the status of the drives, I cannot mount, share, unmount, eject etc..  I have tried with 3 different devices all formatted as Fat32 they all behave the same, the gui has no effect. Also they all say No FS.

I'm testing with both Chrome and Firefox with the same results.  I can manually mount and share from the command line without issues, once thats done, the web gui displays the correct status (except for the No FS).

I do see several messages on the console as I try to mount & share via the gui, those are in the screenshot attached.

I also see a small cosmetic issue in chrome that doesn't show up in Firefox,  The Link to www.queegtech.com is cut off on the right edge.  Another screenshot for this one is attached.

This is my test box so I'm glad to test or try suggestions as desired.

snapscreen.jpg.b95ff035f59e6e46311b272d36a699c8.jpg

i have tested with fat32 and ntfs usb drive. none of the serial number shown when connecting the drives. i have to manually add serial number and share name.

i wonder on drive spin down behaviour. did the drive spin down automatically or i have to manually spin down the drive?

on some drives, i cant read or write. basically i can see the share name but cant open it. is it possible to overcome windows protection?

thanks.

Whenever I add a drive it never shows up... in the log I see this though, so I know snap is seeing it at some point..

When I go to the grid it's not there... doesn't show up on the main unraid page either.

tried numerous drives formatted in different ways.

I have a silly problem. not sure if it's the plugin or it's unraid or what.. it seems when i reboot, whatever is on the drive disappears.  I use the SAB/Sickbeard plugin and store all the data and app information on the drive that i mounted via snap.  I also run a copy of ps3media server from that drive as well.  After the server had lost power, or I needed to reboot it, I lose all the data thats on the drive.

Is that normal or am I missing something or doing something wrong?  Not a big deal as i don't reboot the server all that much, just wondering.

SNAP mounts and shares the drive, nothing else.  So if data/application stuff is missing after a reboot it's either the other plugins not automatically using that location or perhaps they load before SNAP shares the device.  If the other plugins write to a directory in /mnt/disk/yoursharename BEFORE SNAP mounts the drive then the data would be on the flash drive at /mnt/disk/yoursharename but hidden under the newly mounted drives location.

Is there any way to arrange the order that plugins are launched?  that way one could have the snap mount / share load BEFORE other plugins fire off at load to remove this issue?

I have a laptop-drive (NTFS) connected to a SATA-port on the MB. After starting SNAP I can see the drive detected in the list as NTFS but when I right-click the drive and select mount or mount and share it doesn't get mounted but NTFS switches to NO FS. What is wrong?

I am having the same issue.  It appears that the file partition on a SATA drive formatted NTFS is not being recognized by Linux/Unraid so SNAP doesn't think the drive has a valid NTFS partition.  The SNAP plugin also has some issues with the UI.  I think some of the logic is reversed on "NTFS" and "No FS".  There are other issues with the UI also.  I can't seem to get the right click selections to do much of anything, and the status is not updated.  I put my drive in a USB dock and plugged it in as a USB drive and SNAP recognized it as NTFS.  The UI still didn't do the job, so I reverted to a telnet session using snap.sh manually.  I expect that now that 5.0 RC2 is stable that queeg will make some changes and address this.  He may have to wait for Linux/unraid to fix the partition detection.

Do you think implementing exporting the mounted disks via NFS might be a big deal for you?

If you don't have enough time are not in the mood to do that, let me know and I will implement it.

I'm seeing some unusual behavior from SNAP with RC2.

I have a hard drive formatted with ReiserFS that I'd like mounted at boot.  I use SNAP because my BIOS likes to change the identifier on each boot, making it difficult to mount manually.

Anyway, I installed the plugin and set up the drive to mount to "downloads" by double clicking in the field.  When I hit refresh, all of the drives disappear from the list, and I'm presented with an empty list.  The plugin is then broken until the next boot, where I can interact with the interface 1 time again.  When I reboot, the settings appear to be lost.

Any idea what could be going on?  I set it to watch all the logs and this was the output:

Edit: Further weirdness.  I left it alone for about 10 minutes, and when I came back it was working properly and displayed all of the drives.  All of my watches under the Info tab were turned off.  Did snap crash and reload itself or something?

Hi could someone have a look at these errors I seem to be getting relating to Snap and shed some light on their cause please.

I'm also having a problem getting Fat32 USB keys from showing or mounting.

Also having the same logs as Gizmotoy

Installation:

1. Download the Snap-5.0-1.plg.zip  (below) and unzip it.

2. Place it in /boot/config/plugins

Example:  In windows you can use file explorer to copy the .plg file to your unraid machine here:

                    \\tower\flash\config\plugins

3. Then telnet into your unRAID server and type this command to install the plugin (or just reboot):

                  installplg /boot/config/plugins/Snap-5.0-1.plg

4. After it installs you should be able to run the web page.  Open a browser to this address and click the SNAP button.

Did you run the telnet command or just reboot?

I did a reboot with Snap-5.0-1.plg in place but nothing happened. I then telnet installplg /boot/config/plugins/Snap-5.0-1.plg and it installed.

I was then able to see it in settings. Snap doesn't work for me at the moment, so it may not have installed correctly .

reboot, but i think its installed cause it created a map "snap" with all files in it

installed again but this time with telnet

now i do see the button :)

i somehow crashed my system

snap was running fine, i could go into the settings page

then i plugged in an usb hdd

refreshed the page, but couldnt see the hdd

so i rebooted unraid

and it somehow crashed...

i couldnt get acces to unraid anymore

then i unplugged the usb hdd, and still cant access unraid

any ideas?

and when it comes to plugging in hdds, should i start up unraid first, then plug the hdd in, or plug it in and start unraid?

I sometimes have problems with USB drives in SNAP but mostly because those drives were just pulled from a Windows PC without cleanly ejecting the drive. I guess a file is left open then.

I can't get any brand of USB key to work. Corsair, Kingston, Scandisk or generic. I do a fresh format on a PC, Fat32, eject correctly from Win7. Plug into N40L unRaid and Snap doesn't show it, but can see it in unMenu. Do a manual enter into Snap, and get the same result "noFS".

Uninstalled and reinstall (don't know why I have to install via telnet instead or just rebooting??) Still no go :(

Same here

Unraid works again but when i go to snap, i dont see the external usb hdd

nor can i see the flash drive...

whats wrong? help needed
