January 24, 201214 yr I need to upgrade my system, but it seems most of the boards I'm looking at have the realtek 8111e nic. Is this still flakey? thanks, dave
January 25, 201214 yr I believe you need to use a v5 beta for Realtek 8111E support. I just built my unRAID server last month and the MB I used had the 8111E NIC. I used the latest beta 14 and did not notice any problems that could be pinned on the NIC. It seemed to work fine. In troubleshooting IRQ issues, I tried a different MB with an Intel 82579V NIC which also requires a v5 beta for the NIC drivers. That MB remains in my system, but, the 8111E with unRAID v5beta14 was working fine and I transferred a lot of data over that NIC with no issues that I noted.
January 25, 201214 yr Author OK that is good to hear. I actually ended up with Raj's 15-20 drive budget build ECS motherboard suggestion so it looks like I get to avoid this issue dave
