January 25, 201214 yr Controler card installed in Unraid Appears to be recognised iStarUSA RAID-SIL3132-2ES PCIe x1 Host ControllerU SATA II (3.0Gb/s) 2 x eSATA Port Multiplier RAID Controller Here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816215155&Tpk=iStarUSA%20RAID-SIL3132-2ES%20PCIe%20x1%20Host%20ControllerU I'm not sure if I'm missing something on installing this into my existing setup and maybe it's just plug and play. But in the Web interface all my other drives are there but the one's from the Sans Digital 5Bay wont show up. I went through the Unraid manual but if it's there I'm missing how to add on this type of card. Seems like it would be straight forward as this system appears to be setup that way which has been great so far. I should also mention that I just removed this Sans Digital as a Raid 5 Box working on a Win7 Computer. Before removal I deleted the Raid 5 and pass-Thru all drives. Formatted each drive and then wiped partitions. Removed and connected to Unraid and turned on Sans Digital box first then Unraid tower. System Consist of: 14Hard Drives with parity drive setup Mother Board: MSI NF750-G55 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 260 Regor 3.2GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX260OCGMBOX Memory (4) (16gb total)Crucial 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT51264BA1339 Controler card in 1st Slot PCI-e SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 PCI Express x4 Low Profile SAS RAID Controller Controler card in 2st Slot PCI-e Sil 3132 (I believe)1X running 2 internal sata hard drives Any help would be great. Thank you for your time, Chris
January 25, 201214 yr Can you access the SATA card BIOS at boot time? There should be the ability to press a key to access the card setup and then you can see if it's in JBOD mode and that the disks are recognized by the card. There are others using 3132 based SATA cards and port multiliers and they should just work unless the SATA card isn't setup properly. In the extreme case, you may have to reflash the SATA card with a JBOD BIOS instead of the RAID BIOS. Even though the SiL3132 cards are compatible in unRAID, some people have had data corruption issues with certain cards. Nothing has been pinned to a certain hardware combo though. I know I had problems with a Syba 3132 card and another person here recently had issues with a 3132 based card too. Assuming you get it working, I'd recommend some testing to ensure the combo is stable before trusting data to it. Passing a few parity checks would be a first good step. Peter
January 25, 201214 yr Also post a syslog. You will need to set the BIOS to JBOD, or AHCI/IDE. I had this problem once before, it's been so long I can't remember the exact setting.
January 26, 201214 yr Author Hi Guys and thank you for the reply's. As for gaining access to the card I would guess that that would be best assessed by removing the UNRAID USB drive and watch for the screen to appear that may give me access to that card. When you say flash is that something you think is on the driver CD that came with it?. I want to the iStarUSA website and when you click the download tab its blank in that area. Any ideas? Thank again...
January 26, 201214 yr Author OK it may be the cable that's causing the problem. Then again it may be the card plug in slots. Gonna look at another cable maybe round type as another forum member mentioned worked best for them and helped with dropped transfer speeds. I'll check back and report my finding but for now it's working. Will be preclearing drives and testing. Chris

June 13, 201214 yr Author Missed this post and wanted to answer you on this. It's about 29Mb Sec. for the parity check. Once it's through that box of 5 it speeds up to the 80's or higher. Did you ever get your San digital 8bay up and running with unraid?
June 13, 201214 yr Mine is running on the e-SATA port of an HP EX490 server without issues. Right now under unraid 5.0b12a. Didn't the Sans Digital come with a adapter-card?
June 13, 201214 yr I did not buy it. I was able to get a rack mount 12 bay case cheaper then the tower. Also the speed, I get around 100-105 with the Bri10 and 90 with the MV8.
