mbc0
Hi, I had a drive remove itself from the pool due to read errors showing contents emulated. I have a new drive arriving today but had to reboot for a different reason and now the drive is showing as not installed? It does show the correct usage of the old disk but wonder if this is going to cause me problems when I install a new drive later? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
That means the old disk is not being detected, or the array was started with the disk unassigned. Quote Link to comment
mbc0
I never unassigned any disks but the disk is showing in the unassigned section, what is the best way to recover from this please? Quote Link to comment

Solution JorgeB Posted August 9 Solution Share Posted August 9 Disk was already unassigned when the server last booted, I assume this was disk3: Model Family: Toshiba X300 Device Model: TOSHIBA HDWR480 Serial Number: 81G0A0YEFA7H If yes, SMART looks fine, would recommend replacing the cables to rule that out, then rebuild on top: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/storage-management#rebuilding-a-drive-onto-itself Disk is already unassigned, so you just need to re-assign and start the array to rebuild. mbc0
OK, thank you, I have a Server rack with SAS backplane so only one cable so hopefully just a "glitch" I have removed and re-inserted so fingers crossed it should be ok! Thanks again, I will do this now 🙂 Quote Link to comment
