Unraid Crashing requiring hard reboot

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, this can be a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

I just changed a bunch of BIOS settings that if anything should help.

  • PSU Idle power control to typical
  • I disabled global C states
  • turned off xmp
  • turned off secure boot
  • disabled onboard audio

and I'm running a memtest.

Not that I know anything but so far all the crashes have been overnight and for whatever reason the power button isn't functional while its crashed I need to pull the plug. That makes me wonder if it was related to the sleep settings that I disabled.

I had another crash today after all the changes. Its a shot in the dark and I did some reading and apparently people have issues with organizr being on /mnt/user/appdata/organizrv2 instead of /mnt/cache/appdata. If that doesn't fix it i'll run it in safemode and see what happens. I also had read that people have had issues with leaving the webui open all the time which I have been doing with unraid and organizr on 2 PCs. So I'll stop that and see what happens.

I'm just posting all this so if I ever solve this It'll hopefully help somebody in the future.
