Fast as possible FTP server to solve real world problems :)

Recommended Posts

Problem Statement:

I have a network logging appliance that is in production and is being upgraded.

I need to transfer 30 TB of logging data to a FTP server, then to the new appliance both have 20Gig links to the network (Lag group).

Unfortunately your can’t transfer direct.
The current network FTP server only has a 1 gig link making that solution a non-starter.

I was going to take a windows desktop turn it into an unraid server, and put a dual 10 gig nic in it as well as the hhd drives to hold the data. I also have access to ssd if using them as a cache would speed the process.
the reason why this needs to be fast is so the logs are as upto date as possible.

At 1 gig it will take a week to copy and a week transfer to the new.
