Hi All,

I have a situation that is occurring, which is preventing me from being able to stop the array or even successfully issue a shutdown. 

I'm running 6.12.11 with 9 drives + parity + boot; 64GB RAM.  I was not able to mount a drive that I precleared, then I proceeded to stop the array and start the array in maintenance mode.  Now my array is stuck in stopping mode.

Please post the syslog, you can copy it to the flash drive with

cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt

 

I opened a CLI window and pasted the command

cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt

My syslog file is empty

Without at least the syslog it's going to be difficult to guess what the problem is, type reboot in the CLI, if it doesn't reboot after 5 minutes you will need to force it.

When you mean force it to physically power it off?   I tried sudo powerdown, reboot.  Still now shutting down or rebooting.

I finally powered off the server and now I am getting error from disk 1 with a red X.

That means the disk is disabled, post new diags after array start.

Trying to get diag and nothing is happening.

I have a similar issue which seems to be related to the Unassigned Devices plugin mounting an NFS share.  If I don't unmount the NFS located in the plugin before shutting down, the shutdown will not happen and I'll have to hard power-off.

 

It may have nothing to do with your issue, but just mentioning it in case you have something related happening with that plugin/or mounted shares.  In my case, I get lots of errors in the log that it couldn't unmount the share and the machine hangs on shutdown.

There are read errors for parity, check/replace cables and post new diags after array start.

I have swapped cables and uploaded another diag.

Since I executed a hard shutdown, disk 1 is unmountable.

I tried running Array in Maintenance Mode checking Disk 1 without any parameters and also using -L.  Stopped the array and tried starting the array in normal mode and disk 1 will not mount.

Check filesystem for disk1, run it without -n

I ran a Filesystem check without -n and also with -L and started the array in normal mode and disk 1 still will not mount.

Post the output of xfs_repair without -n

That looks being repair, suggesting your parity wasn't 100% valid, see if the actual disk1 mounts with the UD plugin

It is not showing any disks for UD.

 

You need to unassign the disk.

I unassigned the disk.  Used UD to Mount the disk and still It is not mounting when I start the array.
