QNAP NAS + EXPANSION - Parity Drive Placement Help

Featured Replies

Hey Folks!  I'm configuring a QNAP TVS-h874 + TL-D800S for a total of 16 18TB drives.  The 800S expansion unit connects to the 874 using a 2-port SATA 6Gb/s pcie card.  Each port controls 4 of the disk drives on 800S.

I intend to create an array using all 16 disk (2 of them for parity).  My question is - where should I place the parity drives to optimize performance?  I've numbered the bays in the image below.

I would use 1 and 2, but performance should be similar for any slot.
