Expanding cache

Featured Replies

I've just brought over my old unRaid hardware to a new 12th gen Intel. Everything came up fine. However I would like to use the 2TB NVME drive in the new server as expansion to my 1TB SSD drive.

After reading some of the posts I'm a bit confused as to how to do this. Perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology by referring to it as "cache pool". Is it possible to have a 3TB cache by combining the two?

Thanks!

You should be able to add the drive to the pool, it will automatically balance to RAID1, which will still only have 1TB space, but it will be redundant. You can then rebalance to a single profile, which will add both drives space together. However, keep in mind that your data will be interleaved across both drives, which means if either drive has an issue you will lose the whole pool.
