Slow rebuild and errors, looking for root causes

Featured Replies

I had a power outage last week that corrupted the file systems on 2 drives.  One was recoverable with xfs_repair, but the other was not.  I cleared the unrecoverable(Disk 5 - 18TB) one, formatted it, and added it to the array.  It is rebuilding but oscillates between estimates of 250 and 400 days to finish.  I have seen errors on the main array display for both parity drives in the past and Disk 3 currently lists 128.

Checking Parity was extremely slow before the issues last week.  I ran Disk Speed and everything looked fine.  The Smart tests always passed.

I have attached the diagnostics report and the Smart report for the parity drives and Disk 3.  What is likely the issue(s) here?  Thanks in advance.

Check/replace cables for disks 3 and 5 and try again.

I paused the rebuild and will check in the morning, thanks.

I checked the connections for power and data and switched Drive 3 over from the HBA to a free SATA cable.  The speed is about the same.  I have replacement data cables coming tomorrow.  Should I be swapping out the power cables as well?

IIRC for disk3 looked more like SATA, but could be either, or both.

Thank you for your help.  I replaced the SATA cables and also swapped from using a SATA power extension to adapters on an IDE power cable plugged into the power supply.  It's estimating about 27 hours at the start, though I understand it will slow down some during the process.
