August 19, 20241 yr Hello everyone, I am going to preface this with the fact that this is my first time using Unraid so I apologize if I get something wrong. I just finished setting up my disks and shares on my new Unraid machine this morning and went to start trying to configure a home assistant virtual machine. I have setup home assistant virtual machines a few times before on proxmox but this is the first time on Unraid. After my initial setup following the instructions found on home assistant's website for setting up their virtual machine image, I booted the VM and received the error in the screenshot below. Here is my VM configuration for reference I tried a whole bunch of debugging steps that I found online and I eventually narrowed it down to the fact that the network adapter on my VM is getting stuck on getting an IP from my router. I couldn't find a good reason for this on my router's side especially since my unraid server pulled the static IP I set for it on my router just fine. Here are my unraid network settings for reference My network is pretty simple I have one main router that's a cheap gigabit tplink router and then my server and a few other devices are plugged into a second netgear router that is set up to just work as an unmanaged switch. Let me know if there's something obvious I missed or if any additional info is needed. Thank you.
August 20, 20241 yr Author Solution Turns out the Netgear router was the issue. According to what I could find AP mode is supposed to act like an unmanaged switch but it appears to be doing something that breaks networking for the VM but not the server itself.
