August 21, 20241 yr I recently upgraded my server to a new CPU, motherboard, memory and power supply plus added more SATA SSD disks to redesign 2 new ZFS cache pool. I use 8 SATA SSD disks to create 2 ZFS cache pools (6 disk in one and 2 in the other). 4 of the disks are connected to the motherboard and the other 4 are connected to 4 port SATA Marvell 9215 controller card. My 7 array disks are connected on a separate controller card. The 4 SATA SSD disks connected to the motherboard state error "exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x1 SErr 0x280100 action 0x6 frozen" and perform at much slower speeds. I have updated to the latest motherboard BIOS and have a 1200 watt power supply. Reseated all data and power cables. I have swapped SATA cables and attempted to use newly purchased cables. I swapped the modular power cables on each drive and moved the drives to different ports. The error appears only on the drives connected to the motherboard. Any suggestions? August 22, 20241 yr Community Expert Looks like you have a power saving plugin/script installed, try removing that and post new diags.
August 22, 20241 yr Author I believe I have removed all scripts that could be related to power savings. Here are my diagnostics. I also removed my m.2 drive and GPU to verify that they are not interfering with the onboard SATA ports. raid-diagnostics-20240822-1345.zip
August 22, 20241 yr Author One more test result. I moved one drive from the the pool of 6 drives from a motherboard SATA to a free SATA on my array controller card and it's operating normally. The issue is only on the motherboard SATA connectors.
August 23, 20241 yr Community Expert Try booting in safe mode to make sure no plugins are interfering, if the issue persists it suggest a board problem.
August 26, 20241 yr Author I attempted to reboot in safe mode but the SATA controller card that has 2 of the 6 drive pool does not start. The pool of 6 will not populate so I can't read those logs. Since signs are pointing to motherboard SATAs I decided to upgrade my 4 port controller card to a 10 port. All drives are reporting in proper speeds and Diskspeed docker confirms they are performing properly. Will RMA motherboard. Thank you again for all your help and troubleshooting. Consider the matter closed.

September 5, 20241 yr Author Since the 4 onboard SATA ports are free I will test them with single non-pooled drives. Once tested I will report my findings.
