August 28, 20241 yr I using it from 6.9, then upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Now it is 7.0 beta2. I would like to move to ZFS without array. Any profits to do fresh install unraid?

August 28, 20241 yr Community Expert as unraid is a Flash Drive OS, ther can be usb flash drive data rot. Usually seen when watching the GUI. The only benefit, using the backup and restore on a fresh drive to reduce or fix the checksum due to flash drive rot when bzroot is loaded. Not all flash drives bit rot will prevent or cause problems. As unraid makes a ram disk and loads data from the flash drive and uses that as the Host Operating system. in earlier editions of Unraid, some upgrades were recommended to do a fresh download, but if your not having issues with checksum at boot, or with your system booting. Then its non issue. Just remember to make backups including the flash drive... unraid can be restored if the flash drive failes if you have a backup.
August 28, 20241 yr Community Expert Fresh install can help root out edge case issues if you are having issues, but the best reason is to see what is now part of the OS and with fresh eyes decide whether you actually need all those plugins and mod scripts you might have added over the years.
