Hi, I'm looking to build my first unraid server, I have an old asus crosshair am2 motherboard which I'd like to use if it's up to the job. http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2/CROSSHAIR/#specifications  It was quite a  high spec board at the time,  having said that, it doesn't have on board graphics so ill have to buy a cheap gpu.

 

I'll be using an AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.5 GHz cpu and some old ddr2 ram. Think I'll invest in a new 650W psu tho,

 

Ill be be using 6 x 2TB drives to begin with, and hopefully expanding to 12 X 2TB when hard drive price come down in price.

 

Any thought on this would be appreciated

I just completed an UnRaid build with the Crosshair Mb and it works perfectly fine.

CPU Athlon 4850, 4MB DDR2, 750W OCZ PSU, 10 SATA disks, 6 from the MB and 4 from 2 additional PCIe controllers and a minimalist video card for the initial setups (BIOS, etc) .

 

Now running headless on the network.
