License questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

a few years ago I bought unRAID Plus. Now, unRAID licenses are offered for sale (start, unleashed, lifetime).

Thought, by buying unRAID Plus I already own a lifetime license.

So, my question is: why shouls I buy a new license ?

And, I did not find an upgrade path (in sale) from Plus to Unlimited.

You do, and you can upgrade to Pro at any time if you need more than 12 devices.

Due to the pricing page, „unleashed“-license means, I have to pay a fee yearly for getting updates.

But, why should I upgrade. By buying the plus version years ago I should own a license for lifetime upgrades.

What, if I stay at the plus license ? Do I receiver updates to all future versions? Why should I upgrade to any other version?

All I want is a license with the right to receive all future updates (which I thought I have bought years ago).

Just to be absolutely clear your existing license is still good and still entitles you to future updates. Nothing has changed about that, its just that it is no longer an option for new users to purchase that type of license. The option also still exists to update your existing "legacy" Plus license to a "legacy" Pro licensee if you need more drives.

The update page is a little confusing to those with legacy licenses. I have a legacy Plus license and thinking about the $9 unleashed upgrade.

If updating to unleashed means that I go from legacy lifetime updates to 1 year of updates, hard pass.

it sounds like I would need get the plus to pro upgrade to keep lifetime updates.

Typical marketing IMO. It should have just said unlimited storage devices. The rest is true for anyone who already has a legacy license.

Confusing… if I do not need to have more than 6 drives, I do not habe the upgrade to pro license with my legacy plus license…?!

So, my plus license offers lifetime updates.

I do not see any advantage for upgrading to any other license than my legacy plus… there is no extra feature and I would loose free upgrades.

It does, and I think that's pretty clear in that screenshot, what causes the doubts for you?

There is a "Legacy License" section in the FAQ on the unraid.net site where the upgrade pricing for legacy licenses is spelled out. Upgrading a legacy license to another legacy license does not sound like it affects upgrade rights.
