September 2, 20241 yr Hi there, I've been seeing this errors for the past few weeks (almost 2 weeks): Quote Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x1800000 SErr 0x4890000 action 0xe frozen Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4.00: irq_stat 0x0c400040, interface fatal error, connection status changed Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4: SError: { PHYRdyChg 10B8B LinkSeq DevExch } Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4.00: cmd 60/18:b8:90:f9:e8/03:00:ed:00:00/40 tag 23 ncq dma 405504 in Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: res 40/00:b8:90:f9:e8/00:00:ed:00:00/40 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) Sep 2 07:14:39 Blinkserver kernel: ata4.00: status: { DRDY } Also had corruption to the bz files on the flash drive twice and finally I changed the flash drive to a new one (I always use usb 2.0). However, today I see again those errors, can anyone guide me? Don't know exactly how to proceed. Parity checks started to show over 1 million errors last week (I do once a week). I did a re-check writing corrections and the last one is showing now over 7 thousand errors. My server has 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB drives (1 parity). And 1 480GB sata SSD which I use for cache and where the appdata folder lives. I do backups of that folder regularly. I've uploaded the syslog if it helps. Thank you. syslog.txt
September 2, 20241 yr Community Expert More often than not that sort of error is due to a cabling issue (SATA or power). Please provide the full diagnostics instead of just the syslog so we can see more about your system.
September 2, 20241 yr Author Thanks for your quick reply, here you are the diagnostics. blinkserver-diagnostics-20240902-1503.zip
September 2, 20241 yr Looks like a cabling issue for your drive ata4. I'm not familar where to find it in the diagnostics but if you look under "Tools" "System Devices" and scroll down to "SCSI devices" you can see which drive need to have the cabling checked / changed for sata and power. I had a simillar issue and changing the sata cable fixed it.
September 5, 20241 yr Author Hi, I've been busy these days, but today I changed the SATA cables both data and power and for now there are no error logs. I'll wait until tomorrow to check if there's any erros and if there isn't I'll mark your reply as the solution. Thank you.
