Every time I shut down unraid to do something sab+sb are running but it is like a fresh install of both. get the sab wizard and lost all my nzb's and sb has no shows listed. anything I can do as these shutdown are gonna be common for  little while.

+1 for that..been getting exactly the same, i have tried unmenu packages and .plg plugins, stopping and starting array can be ok but if i tuen off the server and restart its all gone..sometimes sab will say its not installed even though i set it to reinstall on reboot

make sure the data directory you have set is to non-volatile memory, otherwise the settings you save will not persist after reboot. I'd recommend setting that directory somewhere like a cache drive if you have one

I may try removing an files related to these 2 programs download the latest ones from here configure shutdown the server then boot and see what happens

You sure it's on the cache drive? Having any issues with apps quiting or the box becoming unresponsive?  It sure sounds like you have the path wrong and are putting the apps into memory so everything gets lost every reboot. The other possibility is that the app is being installed into RAM before the cache drive has a chance to get mounted.

 

You didn't provide a syslog so no-one can confirm your cache drive is working.

 

FYI, I installed my programs manually how the Wiki outlines. They have worked perfectly for about 16 months now.

maybe your mover script is moving your sab folder from the cache drive to the array, and when unraid restarts, it just installs it from scratch??

Exactly same for me, sorry to jump in your thread but it seems senseless to start another thread for the same problem, hopefully we can help each other.

 

restating SB gets all my episodes i added to show up and all settings are correct, as for SAB i cant get it past the wizard, i have checked the sabnzb.ini that i had backed up and it is still there, it just seems that this wizard is over riding, i used prostuffs UNmenu packages for both installs, i set both to install to /mnt/cache/.apps/xxxxxx, so they shouldnt be getting moved anywhere as the folders are prefixed with a period. downloads are set to mnt/user/downloads and completed downloads set to mnt/user/downloads/complete, these shares have cache drive enabled for them and this works ok, strangely, i npticed i had left a previous sab window open and i can navigate around it, though all settings are gone, if i click on downloads it just shows the wizard..

Heres another syslog, this one i had powered down the server, started, brought array online, checked couch potato which was ok, checked sab which is showing wizard (defaults), checked SB which was back to defaults and saying new version available so i restarted SB and after that was fine everything was as it should be then i took a dump of the log, hopefully this is more use.

Wait, so your array is not auto started?

 

If that is the case then it explains why these are not starting/installing when you reboot the server.

 

 

I will have to check some stuff when I get home and see what happens...

its always been like that..i push the power button and then i have to 'statrt' the array after otherwise i only have the flash available. i was having terrible trouble shutting down the server a while back but i installed the power down script and since then, one touch of the power button powers it down nicely..ideally i would like to leave array on but i am for ever restarting it

I didn't follow the wiki and used the file that pro made for unmenu. Thing is before I could install it I had to get a few things? Could these things be part of the problem?

 

another question is if I use the wiki and get it all going will the start/stop script in unmenu start/stop the programs? sab.sb and couch

 

the things you talk about were the dependencies right ?...it pretty much gives you the links to the additional files, if they installed ok i dont see them being the problem

i deleted all of sabnzb again, reinstalled, copied sabnzb.ini back to /mnt/cache/.apps/.sabnzb, restarted...still getting the wizard appearing, so i went through the wizard to get to the webface and none of the settings are there, all the categories have gone, but other settings are there, like poointing to the processtv.cfg, however this has no effect when i set up a tv category, i cant select sabtosickbeard.py as its not there...

loady - that config file may be bad. Try the new install configurator without using that existing file. As for the array starting -  there is a setting for automatically starting in that version of unRAID. Also, don't do that power button press because I don't believe that will shut down all the applications properly. I also have no idea why you casually comment on the need to keep power cycling the server. Presently, my server has  been up a month running both cores 100% doing BOINC calculations while also running Sab, Sick and Couch. It's rock steady.

 

Intertan - yes, it all works fine. The only difference is that the "shutdown" button may continue to show after you click it. A refresh will make it switch to the startup one once the program has had a few seconds to completely shut down. You also have to stop all the apps before you can shut down the server. I still suggest you post a syslog. My understanding is that the unMENU packages need to be updated for each new release. For me, I see the release notification in the program and just click on the update and it updates. this is one of the main reasons I haven't tried any other way.

The reason i amfinding myself restarting the server by power down is that when i am trying/testing to get these packages to behave properly the server will hang, i do wait as i understand it may be doing something but sometimes it really just, well hangs, i cant access //tower or tower:8080 or any of the SB,CP or SAB installs, so the power shutdown seems to get me started again.

 

SAB has just decided to start working again out of the blue, i will restart server again today to see if it reverts back to wizard page...what i would REALLY like to do though is have a fresh install of UNraid so i KNOW there are no errant files laying around, as i dont know that deleting eveeything by searching 'sabnzb' or 'sickbeard' gets rid of everything...now i have a clear set plan of what i want to have on my UNraid server i can have a clean setup...im worried about the integrity of my data and also the steps involved in refreshing the thumb drive back to defaults as it were.

Guess I will clear my cache drive clean it and do a clean of the flash drive and install unaid all over again like it was new. Should be ok with all my data.

I would guess so, my array started starting itself, may have been set like that after i installed something...this thing is leading me around at the moment...i want to do what your doing, wipe the flash as start from scratch..how you going about that ?...i seemed to have it working the other day..everything was set fine, now this morning i come home to find sab saying that script could not be run, sabnzbtosickbeard.py is missing from sabnzb now even though it is still pointing to it in the sickbeard folder...this is what pisses me off, i have not even touched it..it was working so i left it..now this, please let me know how you go about refreshing your flash.
