With a in and out community on the nertools plugin.

I think the New Version of Unraid should maintain a extra folder where one can drop Slackware packages at their own risk and install 3rd party linux application on unraid.

a user script can be used at startup of array to install these third party application.

If nerdtools dies, I still believe that end users and clients should still have a way to install 3rd party application that don't exist on unraid. With the clear warning that the User do so at their own risk.

Any packages in the extra folder get loaded at boot. Nerdtools just places the packages in there.

This already exists in /boot/extra (also prior to Unraid 7).

Also, there's no real if NerdTools dies question anymore, it's already kind of dead.

It's been abandoned by the original developers and many packages are incompatible with Unraid 7 now.

It's only been kept around by the CA maintainers because there was still some demand for it on Unraid 6 iirc...

I'm glad that this exists and is still being maintained. Thank you for confirming the extra folder and its continued existence and use.

Maybe a webui could be added to search, download and install new packages from the official repository

I think the new evolution of nerd tools if it evolves may implement something similar.

I also think it (a way to install those kind of scripts) should be included in unraid.

writing own scripts to put it somewhere is a ok workaround, but nothing more.

Maybe those scripts can be added to "apps" so not 2 differnt stores needs to be worked on?
