September 5, 20241 yr I have an array of (16) drives and a lot of data. After a couple recent reboots (cpu fan install and then having issues with Dockers launching) ALL of my data appears missing. The Array is started and if I navigate individual drives, the data shows to be there, but when I go to the overall share, it is suddenly empty. I am very new to unRAID and just migrated all my data. I have (2) HDD that are to be parity drives, but have yet to set them up. Any help would be greatly appreciated
September 5, 20241 yr Author After rebooting, the array won't start b/c of invalid configuration. There are (3) drives that show "missing". Not sure what to do. Need to start array to post logs, correct?

September 6, 20241 yr Author Now, all of a sudden, two of the three "missing" disks are no longer missing?! I didn;t touch anything either. Very confused
September 6, 20241 yr Author I found that one of my drives sata (data) connection was damaged and removed it and created a new config without it. I guess I lose the data on that drive. But now my user shares keep disappearing until I reboot. Any ideas what might be happening?
September 6, 20241 yr Author It just happened again while trying to download many of the files I lost. Attached is diagnostics zip. Please let me know what might be happening. I am very new to unRAID. Thx!media-server-diagnostics-20240906-1154.zip I am planning to reboot for the time being so that Plex is available to my wife (even if temporary) Edited September 6, 20241 yr by wdpaynter added info
September 6, 20241 yr Community Expert You are having issues with disk1, and since there's no parity, the filesystem shuts down: Sep 6 10:30:45 MEDIA-SERVER kernel: md: disk1 write error, sector=8590062352 Sep 6 10:30:45 MEDIA-SERVER kernel: XFS (md1p1): log I/O error -5 Sep 6 10:30:45 MEDIA-SERVER kernel: XFS (md1p1): Filesystem has been shut down due to log error (0x2). Sep 6 10:30:45 MEDIA-SERVER kernel: XFS (md1p1): Please unmount the filesystem and rectify the problem(s). Looks more like a power/connection issue, so check/replace cables and try again.
September 6, 20241 yr Author Ok, I am regretting not physically labeling my HDDs so I can identify which is which. I added what drive letter each was while they were in my Windows server, but lost them when I did a "New Config". Let me try. Thx!
September 6, 20241 yr Author I removed all the sata connections and rerouted/reconnected them all, rebooted and now disk1 is unmountable, but the array started. Not sure if the drive is/is going bad. I'd like to copy the data off of it if so Edited September 6, 20241 yr by wdpaynter
September 6, 20241 yr Author Rebooted and all are online, but a couple shares are missing and got a warning that communication with my UPS was lost. Here are latest diagnostics media-server-diagnostics-20240906-1328.zip Well the system rebooted itself, I am not sure how. Was nowhere near the button. But same issue that all the drives show as mounted to the array. Now my appdata shares have disappeared. My data/media shares from the array are still there. I am really confused. September 6, 20241 yr Author Updated diagnostics. A bunch of my media/data in the array share is missing also media-server-diagnostics-20240906-1346.zip

September 6, 20241 yr Author You think this is same situation (power/or sata connection)? Why do you think is it "switching"? Would this cause my appdata share to disappear? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to understand. Everything was running smooth for a good while Also, disk6 is showing healthy in the array, but also shows up in my unassigned disks (but shows "array") Edited September 6, 20241 yr by wdpaynter
September 6, 20241 yr Author I've made sure the connections are sound, rebooted and now disk1 is missing. I'm so confused as to what is going on. I have moved any cables around (since much earlier). It seems it just keeps bouncing between a couple drives as to why things won;t work. Is there a way I can troubleshoot? Move the working disks around to see if that proves it isn;t cables/connections, etc?
September 6, 20241 yr Community Expert You can try swapping both power and SATA cables between a working and a non working disk and see where the problem follows.
September 6, 20241 yr Author I removed the (2) drives that were giving me fits and will move the data back over to the array on the empty space I have. My issue remains that my appdata share has disappeared

I think there was a problem with those drives, but can;t be certain. SATA cables seem fine I can post another diagnostic. Can you help me get the missing user shares back? Or recreate them (at least appdata). I can navigate to them through windows network, but they are not in unRAID>shares
September 6, 20241 yr Author media-server-diagnostics-20240906-1547.zip disk10 had its power sata partially out after boot. I can stop array and restrat (or reboot) if needed Edited September 6, 20241 yr by wdpaynter
September 6, 20241 yr Author Stopped array, restarted and it seems ok. What do you think my best course of action is? Move data from "problem" drives to array, then pre-clear them? Or is there a beter test before I assume they shouldn't be in the array anymore? Thx media-server-diagnostics-20240906-1601.zip
