random shutdowns and reboots when idle

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm getting random shutdowns and reboots when idle. They seem clean, no need for parity check. Diagnostics attached.

If it shows "Communications lost with UPS" - I disconnected the ups usb overnight to make sure it wasn't tellng it to shutdown somehow. It still acted the same. I'm new to this, so any help would be appreciated.

Server rebooting by itself is almost always a hardware problem, if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.

After numerous memory configs and swapping the power supply, still getting the same results, I finally noticed something in the syslog-previous:

The problem was a faulty power button. Disconnecting it from motherboard seems to have fixed everything.
