2Rock Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Hello, today I woke up and saw that one of my disks had a red X next to it. Did my drive just die? What do I need to do now? I'm a beginner when it comes to Unraid stuff, please keep this in mind. I've downloaded the diagnostics file and have attached it here. Also a screenshot of the system log. The disks are attached to an HBA: INSPUR 9207-8i 6Gbps HBA LSI FW:P20 IT Mode Maybe the HBA overheated? In the webui I see that last night when the drive failed all of my drives were running hot suddenly... we are dealing with a heatwave here right now.. I notice that the Cache drive is also listed as active and running in the pool, but also showing under unassigned devices. There is only one MX500 SSD, not two, so the drive is showing up in two places. Maybe the HBA reset, the drives got mounted again under new adresses? How can I fix this? All help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! unraid-diagnostics-20240907-1426.zip Edited September 7, 2024 by 2Rock Quote
2Rock Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 I have rebooted the server, after a few minutes both disks showed up under unassigned disk devices again. I have checked old screenshots, the HDD and SSD in question didn't change their name (sdc and sdb) after this error... can someone help me figure out how to fix this please? Quote
2Rock Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Ok new update, it looks like the heatsink on my HBA came loose. I believe this caused the drive to get disabled. The drive itself seems fine. I have re-attached the heat sink to the HBA and now the Cache SSD nor the Disk 1 HDD show up as unassigned anymore. But the Disk 1 is still disabled and emulated. Can someone guide me on how to fix this please? Quote
Solution itimpi Posted September 7, 2024 Solution Posted September 7, 2024 A disk needs to be rebuilt to clear the disabled status. The rebuild process makes a physical drive match the emulated one so check that the contents of the emulated drive are what you expect. The diagnostics suggest the emulated drive is mounting OK. if you think the physical drive is OK then you can follow the procedure to Rebuild a drive onto itself as documented in the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page. The Unraid OS->Manual section in particular covers most features of the current Unraid release. Quote
