Marco84 Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Hi. My goal is to migrate my photos from what is now a multi-disk user share to a single disk share due to smb performance issues with user shares, which seems to be much better when using smb with disk shares. I originally created a user share for photos that spread files across both of my disks (disk1, disk2). I do see that there are some folders within that share that have been split across both disks (disk1, disk2). I would now like to use only disk1 for these files, so I changed the settings to include disk1, exclude disk2. I thought Unraid would automatically consolidate the files onto disk1, but it did not. I tried changing the split level from automatic to manual, and also tried stopping/restarting the array, but the files remain split across both disks. Do I have to manually move them from disk2 to disk1? If so, what is the process for doing that so that i don't mess anything up. Thank you! Quote
Marco84 Posted September 8, 2024 Author Posted September 8, 2024 Thanks much @Veah! I went through and it works great. So if I'm switching to a single disk model, I'm going to specify that disk in the include selector for that share. Would I also need to change the split level from automatic to manual? Or is that moot given a single disk? Quote
Veah Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 On a single disk is moot. If you change later on then worth looking at. I like keeping my tv series seasons on same level/disk so they can roll from one episode to the next id I do a binge watching. Quote
