Executing files over NFS

Featured Replies

I'm having an issue when i try to execute files via an NFS share. when i try to play a movie, for example via my mapped network drive (NFS), the media player will open, but the file will not play. If i execute the same file via SMB, it plays ok.

Looking in the event viewer, i see the following error:

Windows® Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) failed a request to connect to Active Directory Domain Services® for Windows user <iMac\garry>.

Without the corresponding UNIX identity of the Windows user, the user cannot access Network File System (NFS) shared resources.

Verify that the Windows user is in Active Directory Domain Services and has access permissions.

My setup is a standalone Windows 7 machine and unRAID 4.7.

Can someone point me in the right direction to start to troubleshoot this?

Can you give a little more details about the setup.

If I gather what you said you are trying to play the file on your Windows 7 machine from your Unraid server?

How are you accessing that file within windows? \\tower\video\testfile.avi as an example

Hi Chip.

If i access (play) an avi sitting on the unRAID server and access it via SMB, the file will play. eg i go to \\tower\video\abc.avi and the file will play.

If i go to the same file via NFS tower:/mnt/user/Video/abc.avi i can see the file, but it will not play. Event viewer throws the error above.

There seems to be some sort of auth issue, but im not sure where to go from here...
